Obama:No you can't
Exprimez votre colère au President Obama en lui faxant ce texte à ce numéro: fax-00 202 456 2461
Mister president,
The eyes of the world are again on Gaza. This time, instead of a massive military assault targeting 1.5 million civilians like in 2009, Israel has attacked a flotilla of international aid ships, killing at least 10 internationals and injuring dozens more. But the message is the same: Gaza is completely under Israel's control and anyone who tries to help them will be punished by Israel's army.
The Israeli government has subjected Palestinians to a three year blockade, denying them sufficient food, shelter, education, and proper medical care. This is collective punishment, and it is illegal as well as immoral.
As citizens of the world, President Obama, we demand that you:
1) condemn this action by Israel, which violates international law, the rights of the protesters to aid, and most importantly the rights of Gazans to rebuild their own lives with dignity and struggle for their freedom.
2) withhold aid until Israel agrees to abide by international law including ending the siege of Gaza and the occupation of the West Bank including East Jerusalem
3) pressure Israel to release all detainees immediately
4) call for an independent international investigation of the events of May 31st in the international waters off of Gaza Strip
President Obama, you continue to support Israel's human rights abuses and encourage this violent mindset on the part of Israel. As long as military aid continues unchecked, Israel will feel free to engage in such brutal actions, which in the end will only harm the security and freedom of Israelis or Jews all over while destroying the security and freedom of Palestinians. US law prohibits military aid to human rights abusers. Israel has been abusing Palestinian human rights for decades, and now, with this new attack, the world can see that abuse more clearly. We demand that you suspend aid to Israel until it complies with international law and human rights.
Israel claims that its soldiers were attacked on the ships – but they never should have invaded those ships in the first place. There can be no justification for the loss of life on board the vessel. You should hold those responsible accountable and not just lament the loss of life
